Serpentine Gallery Digital Engagement Projects
During a contract to enhance The Serpentine Gallery’s digital engagement, I oversaw ideation and execution of several projects aimed to increase engagement with the Serpentine’s digital channels.
2014/15
Extinction Marathon
The Serpentine Marathon takes place at the gallery during the last weekend of Frieze week. It is a two-day-long series of back-to-back presentations by artists, writers, scientists, academics and more, giving their response to a chosen theme. For the marathon “Extinction: Visions of the Future” I was tasked with generating digital engagement in the run-up to the event, before assets had been created by live speakers.
15Folds is an online .gif gallery with a new theme every month. Artists, both established and emerging, submit .gifs on the given theme and 15Folds curators select one to post every other day of the month.
I invited 15Folds to make their October theme ‘extinction’. The call-out was announced on Dazed Digital, and Serpentine Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist judged the entries to pick 15. These were then rolled out across the Serpentine’s digital platforms, Dazed’d and the 15Folds gallery itself.
